NEW CLAMPS FOR HYDRAULIC PRESSURE LINE IN MODELS "40" AND "40" STANDARD TRACTORS

Occasional failure of the AM1449T hydraulic pressure line, in the instrument panel housing on John Deere Models "40" and "40" Standard Tractors, has been reported. The failure - a crack in the line at the upper clamping point in the panel - is apparently traceable to flattening of the line by excessive tightening of the M2163T pressure line clamp.

To prevent excessive tightening we have adopted a new clamp which is supported at both ends. A short piece of rubber hose on the line under each clamp absorbs vibration and assures a tight fit.

The new clamp, Part No. M2394T, replaces the M2163T pressure line clamp. The rubber sleeve used under each clamp is Part No. M2395T. The use of these parts was effective on Model "40" Tractor Serial No. 40-68288, and on Model "40" Standard Tractor Serial No. 4OS-64815.

NOTE: On Model "40" Tractors, Serial Nos. 40-60001 - 40-64860, and Model "40" Standard Tractors, Serial Nos. 4OS-60001 - 4OS61355, a sheet steel clamp support (M2187T) was used between the casting and the M2163T clamp. If the new pressure line clamp and rubber sleeve are installed on tractors in these serial number ranges, it will still be necessary to use the M2187T support.
